Project Description: Package Design for an office Chair Mat
The primary objective of this project was to conceptualize and craft a package design that exuded an air of sophistication and exclusivity within an oversaturated market inundated with subpar products. Collaborating closely with the client and leading designer, our mission was to distill the client's vision and subsequently engineer a distinctive packaging solution that would elevate the product above its competition.
Our approach embraced simplicity, emphasizing a refined layout that accentuated the brand's identity and conjured associations with the sleek aesthetics reminiscent of an Ikea product. This was especially pivotal, given the product's exclusive online marketplace presence.

Significantly, our design process navigated stringent constraints to ensure that production costs and package dimensions remained within the bounds of feasibility. This challenge served as a catalyst for innovative design solutions that went beyond the conventional.
Notably, we faced a two-tone color restriction, compelling us to employ only black and white inks. This constraint, rather than hindering our creativity, became an opportunity to explore unconventional approaches that leveraged the stark contrast of these hues to make a striking visual statement.
Furthermore, adherence to strict regulatory requirements governing information display for product shipping and packaging demanded ingenuity in optimizing spatial utilization. This compelled us to leverage every inch of the package real estate creatively, enhancing both form and function.
In the end, the meticulously designed package effectively presents the Chair Mat as a versatile solution for safeguarding hard-surface floors or facilitating the smooth movement of rolling chairs on carpets. Its distinctive aesthetics and attention to detail ensure that it not only meets but surpasses customer expectations, contributing to a strong brand identity in a highly competitive market.
A simple, or refined, layout which emphasizes the brand and evokes a sense of a product one might find at an Ikea. When it is being sold exclusively through online marketplaces.
The design had to meet restrictive criteria in order to not exceed production costs or package dimensions, which allowed me to experiment with design solutions outside the obvious. A two-tone colour limitation meant that the design could only use black and white inks; while the strict regulations about displayed information involved in product shipping and packaging pushed me to a more creative use of space.
The Chair Mat allows someone to protect their hard-surface floor or use rolling chairs on carpet.
